Barbara Hetherington

Barbara has had extensive experience of judging in halter and fleece, both within the UK and across Europe. She has judged some of the largest shows on the circuit and had the pleasure of co-judging (alongside Amanda VandenBosch) the male entries at the British Alpaca Society National Halter Show in 2023.

She has a busy year planned for 2024 including judging the British Alpaca Society National Fleece Show and co-judging the Australian Alpaca Association National Halter Show.

When not judging Barbara enjoys sharing her knowledge and has facilitated many workshops both in person and via Zoom. She also tutors on behalf of the British alpaca Society including teaching on the judge training programme.

Barbara is a co-owner of Beck Brow Alpacas based in Northern England. This successful and well regarded stud farm has grown quickly from an initial purchase of four females in 2008 to a herd of approximately 200. The herd has been highly rewarded on the show circuit culminating in winning the BAS National Halter and Fleece Supreme Championships in 2022.

Barbara is a former Critical Care Nursing Sister giving her a good knowledge base when caring for the health and welfare of her alpacas. It also provided her with skills to work as a member of a team and she has been part of the BAS National Show Committee since 2013, as well as organising local shows.
